Ugly Duckling Soaps are made with a proprietary blend of Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Soybean Oil. Selected rich, moisturizing oils are then added to our soaps to form a mild bar which will rinse clean leaving your skin smooth and baby soft.
Please take a moment to read about the unique qualities of each of our soaps. We take great pride in creating unique soaps to suit every taste and skin type! While we do not claim that any of our soaps will have a physiological effect on the user, we've included some of the known qualities of our favorite oils for your reading pleasure.
Calendula Citrus aka Citrus & Castor: Made with saponified vegetable oils and our own organically grown Calendula. We use dried Calendula petals and Calendula infused Avocado oil. The herb calendula has been used for centuries to enhance skin tone and restore natural beauty to your skin. In the spring of 2008, we made this soap with Castor Oil when we ran out of Calendula Oil. Castor oil is the only oil known to contain ricinoleic acid. This oil has renowned healing properties to the skin and was once known as "Palma Christi" ("The Hand of Christ"). We were so happy with this soap that we decided to keep the Castor Oil in the Calendula Citrus soap. This fantastic soap combines the wonderful properties of both Castor and Calendula oil, along with dried calendula petals and Litsea Cubeba, Lemon and Orange essential oils.
Honey Oatmeal: Made with saponified vegetable oils, Pure Wildflower Colorado Honey, apricot kernel oil and ground oatmeal. This soap has a delightful honey/almond scent. This soap is a customer and personal favorite!
Fresh Pumice Scrub: Made with saponified vegetable oils, shea butter, natural ground pumice and a blend of Juniper, Lemon and Rosemary essential oils and fragrance oils. Our second most popular soap, it is recommended for shower exfoliating and scrubbing hands clean after a hard day's work. This soap used to be made as a layered soap: pure soap on one side, pumice on the other. We then had many requests for a simpler soap, with pumice dispersed evenly throughout the bar. We ran a test batch, and liked it so much that we now make every bar this way.
Peppermint Goatsmilk: Made with saponified vegetable oils, goatsmilk, cocoa butter and peppermint essential oil. The goatsmilk serves as a wonderful moisturizer and skin softener. Our testers love this soap in the kitchen. It releases a wonderful peppermint aroma every time you wash your hands; the extra moisturizing abilities of this soap will protect your hands from dying out during frequent handwashing.
Avocado Mountain: Made with saponified vegetable oils, avocado oil, French Green Clay and a light soapy fragrance oil. Avocado oil is a fantastic moisturizer and creates a thick, rich lather. Sterolins from avocado oil are known to reduce wrinkles, age spots, scars and heal sun damage. Avocado oil is also thought to increase collagen in the skin, benefiting elasticity.
Sandalwood Vanilla: Made with saponified vegetable oils, castor oil and Sandalwood and Vanilla fragrance oils. Men love this soap. Testers have said that it smells like almonds and vanilla. The castor oil is renowned for its healing properties. A natural product within the oil called ricinoleic acid is a rare compound that has anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-yeast and anti-mold properties. The castor oil also increases circulation to the skin. We have just stared making this soap with goat milk, and love the results!
